i have more than five years of print layout, web design, film editing, and volunteer coordination experience. i enjoy learning fast, and often combine several of these skills and learn new ones in order to meet the needs of clients who have several projects going but can't afford to hire an entire design firm. for more information, please see my resume or contact me.
web:
i do my research.
web developers must have a strong understanding of the core goals and organizational needs of the people whose websites we are creating. my web development experience has been primarily with non-profit organizations working to build movements for progressive/radical social change. their websites have needed to be tools not just for selling soap, but for cultivating long-term relationships, building alliances, and of course fundraising.
i've also found that i'm best able to meet people's needs by maintaining a solid knowledge of the incredible wealth of free, open-source web applications that are available.
i can offer:
- custom site design using photoshop, html/css, and flash
- interactive functionality, including e-commerce and content-management web applications
- my experience working with small to mid-sized organizations to map out their web strategy, identify target audiences and the experiences these individuals should have visiting the site, and plan how staff will interact with the site to post updates etc
graphic design:
just tell me what you need. i've designed everything from logos to t-shirts to banners to posters to entire newspapers and magazines. check out my portfolio.
video:
post-production is perhaps the work that most frequently requires a knowledge of design across multiple media. i am conversant with final cut pro, and have worked as an assistant editor and graphic artist on a feature-length documentary and several shorter pieces. i am currently learning adobe after effects, and would love to start playing with sound like i did back in high school ;). again, please see my portfolio.
